CALCAP BLACKBOX THEATRE

Located in the historic Old Mills Winery building, CalCap Black Box Theatre is operated by the California Capital Arts Foundation a not-for-profit 501 (c) 3.

A wonderfully versatile space and Sacramento's only "LGBTQ+ Presenting" performing arts venue, providing an intimate playing space for performers and audience members alike without neglecting any of the technology available in a larger theater. With seating for up to 65 - CalCap Black Box Theatre is an interesting, one-of-a-kind space in which to watch and produce theatre, ranging from award-winning and well-reviewed solo shows to small character-driven plays and regular film and documentary screenings.

The versatility of CalCap Black Box Theatre gives actors and directors absolute artistic freedom. With our flexible seating arrangements, each production will have a customized actor-audience relationship, where audiences can expect a wide range of theatrical experiences.

With ample parking and minutes from the I-50 exit at Bradshaw and a quick 15-minute drive from downtown and midtown Sacramento, CalCap Black Box Theatre is just what the doctor ordered as we move away from the past couple of years of lockdowns and minimal arts.
