About the event
A white police officer and the black owner of a small corner market are trapped in a completely looted store during an uprising in South Central L.A. In a bizarre twist it turns out that the two men actually knew one another from over 20 years earlier. With nowhere to go the two men make peace with one another during their unexpected reunion.
Unfortunately, the “peace” is short lived when a young Black man arrives in the store—angry and looking to avenge the death of his ten-year-old brother, who was caught in the crossfire between the police and a neighborhood gang.
The store manager tries to dissuade the younger man from taking his revenge on the police officer, warning him to not throw away his life by an action which will lead to his undoing. Tensions rise and things end tragically. All of the events in the play are timeless and the ending makes the point that in some instances certain things never seem to change and time is indeed frozen.
